The Nova Orchester Wien (NOW!) is comprised of an orchestra of 75 of the most elite professional musicians of the younger generation in Vienna, many of whom have already performed with such great orchestras as the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, Vienna State Opera and Tönkunstler Orchestra. The Music Director and Chief Conductor is the American conductor William Garfield Walker.

NOW! performs a broad range of music from large scale symphonic works to chamber ensemble music, including the traditional canon as well as works of great composers too infrequently performed. The orchestra gives particular focus to the music of the Twentieth Century, especially the work of composers active during the Cold War era.

In these challenging times, the NOW! Concert series invites audiences to join the next generation of musicians on a journey of discovery as they interpret masterpieces both well known and lesser known. Through these encounters, NOW! seeks to elicit myriad emotions, elation, anxiety, love, melancholy, joy and wonder, and to cause reflection upon the human spirit in a rapidly, radically changing world.

It is the exaltation of the humane through music, a timeless aspiration, that is given new life and purpose with NOW! in this confounding and uncertain world of today.
