ABOUT NOW!
The Nova Orchester Wien is a new and exciting orchestra based in Vienna, Austria with a passionate and committed management team. Despite being founded in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, NOW! has already performed several concerts including one in association with the Austrian Cultural Institute in Milano and one for the G20 Economic forum. NOW! has been featured on Radioklassik Stephansdom twice in the past three months and will be featured on television in the coming year.

MAIN GOALS OF THE POSITION:
NOW! is a private orchestra with funding from private donors and companies. The objective of the Director of Development is to build and diversify NOW!’s funding sources through securing new partnerships with companies and private individuals as well as applying for all available grants from both governmental and private institutions in both Europe and the United States.

DUTIES:

  • Fundraising.

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies.

  • Lead development efforts to meet fundraising goals.

  • Cultivate current prospect new individual, business, foundation, and grant support.

  • Develop fundraising proposals and meet with donors to secure funding.

  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors.

  • Create and manage donor benefits packages.

  • Assist in scheduling donor meetings and oversee Development calendar.

  • Ensure accurate financial reporting of contributions.

  • Oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals for funds from private, family, community, and corporate foundations, as well as from corporations, and government agencies.

  • Manage the implementation of Raiser's Edge and oversee staff responsible for data entry, gift processing, and timely collection of accounts receivable.

  • Execute Development related policies of the organisation.

  • Manage the Development Assistant.

 QUALIFICATIONS AND CAPABILITIES:

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills. A professional understanding of both English and German is desirable.

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with maturity, poise, and discretion.

  • Effective organisational and clerical skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.

  • Ability to represent the NOW! professionally and effectively with a wide range of constituents including orchestra members, staff, board, guest artists, patrons, and others.

  • Excellent computer skills including thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Google suite is essential.

  • Knowledge of symphony orchestra structure and practices, symphonic repertoire preferred.

  • Experience and or interest in fundraising is preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in music or arts administration or professional experience managing an artist or working within an arts organisation with a music organisation is highly desirable.
